TAEKWONDO AND PARA TAEKWONDO
The excitement within the Taekwondo community is palpable as Innsbruck, Austria prepares to host two landmark events: the 16th European Poomsae Taekwondo Championships and the 1st European Poomsae Para Taekwondo Championships. These competitions, scheduled from November 24 to 26, 2023, will bring together Europe’s finest athletes to showcase their mastery of poomsae and freestyle.
In a heartfelt address, Sakis Pragalos, President of the European Taekwondo Union, reminisced about Austria’s role in launching the first international poomsae championships in 1993. Nearly three decades later, the event has expanded significantly, reflecting the exceptional skill level of current poomsae practitioners.
These championships are promoted by the ETU and sanctioned by World Taekwondo. The Austrian Taekwondo Federation, led by President Dr. Alexander Hübl, takes pride in organizing the event at the prestigious Olympiaworld venue.
Athletes and teams are advised to be present in Innsbruck for registration and accreditation, which will be open from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00, starting on November 23 until November 25. Additionally, a critical Head of Team meeting will take place on November 23 at 19:00 at the Ramada Hotel Innsbruck, where important details regarding the compulsory poomsae will be discussed.
The competition has been classified as a G4 event, which signifies a high-ranking tournament that will contribute significantly to the athletes’ standings. The event will adhere to the latest World Taekwondo Poomsae Ranking Bylaw, ensuring a fair and competitive environment.
Participants and fans can expect daily updates, as the draw sheets and brackets will be published at 21:00 each day before the competition begins.
