This weekend, in Bucharest, Romania, 145 athletes will compete in the Qualification Tournament for 3rd European Games.
Two days of competition where athletes from all over Europe will compete for a place at the European Olympic Games to be held in Kraków-Małopolska in Poland on 21 June. Here are the words of ETU President, Mr. Sakis Pragalos:
Dear friends,
The European Olympic Committees have decided to include Taekwondo again in the program of the 3rd European Games! The first group of athletes qualified based on the 2022 WT Rankings. But the ETU Council decided that an extra quota place should be won by a direct qualification tournament.
There is a catch though: only one NOC per medal event can participate at the European Games. That means that if there is no qualified athlete from your country in the weight division, you can participate. In the outline you can see per weight division which nationalities are excluded.
I want to express my appreciation for the Romanian Taekwondo WT Federation and its President, Mr. Constantin Apostol. Under his leadership, the Organizing Committee will guarantee a high-level event! I wish all the athletes best of luck!
